Art School Activity

Now that the 3 families have had one and only one color lesson but a very complete one .Each painted a 12 color wheel and memorized the primaries, secondaries and tertiaries...learned the analogous and complememtary, the advancing and retreating, good color use and poor.. Then they had a vey fast intro to watercolor... paper, brushes, wet on wet, wet on dry, dry on dry and with only 3 lessons left off they go next week to painting a tree so they have a target

A wee bit of pen and ink ...plus a little sepia watercolor. For those who remember the quince we planted in PA (next to the new tractor shedd we build after hours so as not to get caught and have to pay the town ...we have a nice little one here now but nothing grows in NC like it does in Valley Forge!

With the arrival of the Vernal Equinox it is now warm enough to take my Home Schooler Art Students into the field. This is a working mill fully restored and one can purchase corn meal every weekend. Yates Mill by name and one of the oldest in NC. The kids had a ball today and even did some nice sketches.

For those of you who know I was asked to make three transforming trees for an Oscar Wild play at Church.. The garden had to go from summer to winter a number of times .Thanks to 2x4s, PVC, some conduit for reenforcing, brown gaffers tape, foam core and tissue paper... and a few hours and there you have it.

With so many thanks to Michael and to Joseph. My "Automentor" Michael found a great buy thanks to a slight cosmetic problem ...a crushed front right fender. Joseph arranged a commission which when finally finished and sold netted more than enough to pay for the body repair...all dings and scrapes and the pin stripe. Thanks to both

This was a quickie... a great shot of Bobby about 6 months ago turned into a larger graphite sketch . This is about a 4 hour job so if interested let me know.

the new painting

This is the commissioned painting that the client wanted. I took about 5 tries to get in the 3 items of interest to her daughter bride to be: the house, the needle (off shore rock) and the old tree that she sits under to watch the sunset. The final answer was to make the rosa rugosa the dominant element. Clare likes it so it must be ok!
